Hi there!
My name is Marcielle Ventura, but you can call me Mava.
I’m an illustrator living in Brazil. I have a Master’s degree in Architecture and worked for ten years as both an architect and a professor. But let’s be honest, drawing has always been my favorite part of the job.
I was born in 1985, and I grew up obsessed with Japanese TV series, like Jaspion, Black kamen Rider, and Lion Man. I used to draw them nonstop! Another thing you have to know about me (because if we work together I’ll bring it up) is that my musical taste/knowledge is 90% hits from the 80s, if I had to pick three artists to take to a desert island they would be: Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and the duo Air Supply.
I work in digital and traditional media, and my illustrations often have a vintage and nostalgic feel. I’m influenced by the old books, toys, and cartoons I liked as a kid. My love for animals and history also plays a big role in inspiring my work. I’m currently focusing on children’s literature, editorial projects, and advertising— especially projects that are just plain cute!
I work from home, where my three dogs (Brioche, Butter, and Flour) keep me company on the hot days of my small city in Mato Grosso do Sul.
When I’m not drawing, I spend my free time watching movies, caring for my dogs, baking sourdough, and growing a dangerously large vinyl collection. In short: a chronicle case of a millennial cliché!
Feel free to contact me for any further information you might need.
I'll be here, drawing and drinking coffee!
